Traditional deep-etched awards and trophies are lovely on their own, but sometimes a piece requires a special pop of color to bring out the luster and significance of the event or brand. Our color fill techniques wow the mind with incredible vibrance and clarity.

After surface etching has been completed, we colour fill finished awards as per client request and artwork design. This creates an even more vibrant and unique look that can bring special attention to names, logos, and more. Our talented artists hand paint each award to complete the final look, while utilizing a wide palette of colours to achieve that special effect.

The color fill process consists of hand painting colors within deeply etched areas of text and logos. This adds vibrancy to a crystal award. Exact PMS matching is not guaranteed, but we come extremely close. Logos and designs requiring gradient color are best done using our MicroResolution™ process, which is explained in another section.
Color fill is best suited to text, designs and logos with solid, non gradient areas of color. Our artisans first surface etch the area they wish to fill, then they painstakingly hand-paint the etched area, resulting in a tight, crisply defined colored area on the surface of your crystal.
Vibrant, high-gloss and/or metallic enamel paints are hand mixed to closely match Pantone® colors on a per-project basis. All colors are recorded for future reference to ensure accurate color matching.
Etching and color filling looks best when done on the back surface of the crystal, so we see it looking through the front of the crystal.
Deeply etched portions of text and logos are filled with color using a hand-painted technique. We use various techniques to apply the paints, including fine needles for extremely fine/tight areas.
Different parts of a logo can be filled in different colors, as long as each area that is deep etched has been separated from its adjacent area with what is known as a key line, a small, thin “wall” that separates two areas.
Adding color enables companies to better “brand” their awards and the addition of color highlights that section of the artwork.
Our team at Crystal Sensations ensures that the color fill will not fade or peel under normal conditions. We use high-gloss or metallic enamel paints.
We only use high-quality materials, which ensures that we deliver only the best custom crystal awards for your needs. However, keep in mind that the color fill can peel if washed with harsh solvents. Therefore, it is crucial that you clean your award with a slightly damp cloth and avoid wiping with hard pressure directly on painted surfaces.
